Best restaurant in Regensburg and the surrounding area. A successful connection between traditional Upper Palatinate and fine cuisine. The ambience is simply great, the service warm and that's why the golden lion has been our regular restaurant for years. Eating dessert is a must!

Although we were there at 18 o'clock, in the most glorious sunshine we were informed that today no gardening is. The soup already out. Also all dishes with chanterelles were no longer reducing the range of goods from 5 main courses to 2 reduced. After we had dined and left the place our astonishment was great because it was busy gardening 😏

My husband had ordered pork tenderloin pink and got raw fat meat served and as a compensation he would be offered a liquor. That would be at a meal of 21 €

A place where you like to stay longer. Friendly service, pleasant atmosphere. An old building with a certain charm. But you have to find it first. Located in a small alley with few parking spaces, you should consider a small walk.

Nice backyard. Unfortunately we were put off to the meal time 18 o'clock and unfortunately later sent away, since everything was reserved. Too bad they did not tell us that right away.

Anyone looking for high-quality and innovative star cuisine at a more than acceptable price will find it here. So far every time more than satisfied because just great atmosphere (especially in the summer in the garden), very high quality food, great service and who the dark Zoigl has not tasted so far it must do it next time because the beer is Hammer.

We have been to the golden lion several times, both for dinner and in large company and for multi-course menu events. The young, creative kitchen team processes regional and seasonal products into great dishes. The wonderful ambience and the very nice service make a stay perfect.

As you enter the courtyard you feel directly that you are led into a small fairytale world and comfortably invited to a hunt for artistic eye-catching. The whole team, the good food and ambience offers more than just forgetting everyday life. It could not be more authentic than the peace in Kallmünz itself. We were very happy to hear from the cooks about the producers and the appreciation to their farmers. The food is fine, very good and not lifted!

Visited several times, always enthusiastic: The Golden Lion is an experience for all the senses. To enjoy the regional cuisine as well as the culinary side trip to the south. And all wrapped up in the wonderful atmosphere of the dining rooms, the garden and guest apartments. Best tradition and refreshing new!

There are three stars for the fact that you can definitely enjoy first-class, high-quality food here. But I have to deduct two stars, because as a vegetarian you unfortunately feel discriminated against and not valued in a certain way in this noble restaurant. There was only one vegetarian dish among all the rich offerings, which tasted excellent, but which was not half the amount, such as the roast pork, which was a third more expensive than this roast pork. Do the restaurateurs (almost) all think that vegetarians are less hungry than meat eaters? But you definitely need a bigger wallet. Actually, I should subtract one star for the fact that there was nothing to eat for vegans ...

Every time my family visits Germany, we make a point of coming here from Regensburg. The Bauchstecherla are uniquely to die for. The trout filet is unreal and the Zoiglbiermousse is really impressive. Love the service and the atmosphere, a must see.
